Beaufort & Jasper County Schools On the Move!

Yesterday was an amazing day! I had the opportunity to spend the day with the Teacher Cadets and the TC instructors in Beaufort and Jasper counties! The Cadets at Battery Creek, Beaufort, Bluffton, Hilton Head Island, Ridgeland, and Whale Branch Early College high schools were impressive! My message included why SC needs the "best and brightest" to become teachers, and the Cadets learned more about the "good" and the "not so good" statistics and trends of education in SC. Program Director, Jason Fulmer, also presented "Strategies to Orchestrate Student Success," and the Cadets really enjoyed the interactive presentation as they sang, moved to the "medleys," and had fun learning strategies that they can use when they go out into the field for their Teacher Cadet Field Experience. Thanks again to Mrs. Cindy Sturgis and the Teacher Cadets of Hilton Head Island High School for organizing the Lowcountry's first Regional Teacher Cadet Day! (Well....that's my title for it....hint, hint!) Pictures from the event will be uploaded soon to the TC web site. Check them out!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Everyone! A new year is upon us, and I am excited about the possibilities for our Pre-Collegiate Programs in 2012! During the winter holidays, I stumbled upon a couple of items I would like to share with you. Teacher Cadets, please check out the following summer experience opportunity from Bank of America's web page:

(1) Bank of America Student Leaders Program

If you are a student with a passion for improving your community, we would like to help you turn that passion into action. We are looking for leaders who are high school juniors and seniors in the US. The Student Leaders selected within the 44 markets will participate in:

-An eight-week paid internship at a charitable organization
-A week-long Student Leadership Summit in Washington, DC (July) to
gain valuable civic, social and business leadership skills (all expenses paid as part of the   Student Leaders Program)
